The Uyl van Hoogland
Right in the center of Leiden, next to the famous Hooglandse Church, you will find the Uyl van Hoogland. Over the past forty years, this café has grown into one of the most famous pubs in Leiden. 'Pilgrims to America - and the Limits of Freedom' explores the limits of freedom. The exhibition shows the remarkable journey of the Pilgrims at the beginning of the seventeenth century. From the England they came from, via the city of Leiden, where they spent eleven years in voluntary exile, to the world of the Native Americans they colonized.
